Poor thigh

Sometimes I am just so clumsy that even I can't believe myself. I was cooking instant noodles today because I don't eat healthy... I know, I know, I will become a vegetarian when I'm older and can cook for myself without causing me or anyone who happens to be around me, any harm.

Anyway, I poured boiling water into my instant noodles and brought it to the breakfast bar to eat. Holding the noodle cup whilst pulling back a stool to sit on, I tipped the whole noodle cup into my body. Yes, very smart but wait, there's more to the story.

My right thigh was badly scalded. At the time, my thigh was the colour of pig skin.

Scared that my parents would find out that I made yet again, another mess in the kitchen, I stripped off my drenched shorts and started cleaning the kitchen quietly.

Yep, I didn't even think about my well-being at the time to rinse my thigh under cold water. My parents are really scary when they want to be and I mean it. I eventually told my parents and they raged at me for not telling them. Hehe.

After the kitchen was spic and span, I took a shower and realised how bad my thigh was. I saw that blisters the size of my pinkie nail were starting to form on the severely scalded skin areas of my thigh. Yes, I wasn't that silly to shower with hot water; luke warm was what I used. I think we all know how being burnt feels. It's that blunt stinging sort of feeling. Not pleasant when you're whole thigh happens to be the case.

When the accident happened, I had no treatments at my house to use on my burn. It was about 7 hours after the accident happened when my Godmother came to the rescue and brought Silvazine to me.

I've been rubbing Silvazine on the burn twice a day. It apparently does a great job healing burnt skin, leaving no scars. Close friends would know how much I hate scarring. I've also tried Aloe Vera and Honey. Please don't let me have a scar on my thigh, I've already scars on both knees and shins.

Just in case you get scalded or burnt in the future, follow these steps:

1. Rinse the burnt area under cold tap water for 15 minutes, immediately after the accident. (This step will release the heat from the burnt area)
2. Get a wet towel and keep the burnt area moist for a while...
3. Place the burnt area above the heart. It supposedly helps the burn somehow.
   
4. Apply cream or ointments such as Silvazine to treat the burn.
5. Use gauze to cover the burn so it won't get infected. I didn't bother though.
   
6. After a few days, use Aloe Vera when a scab forms on the burnt area to prevent scarring.

1st degree burns like mine would take a few weeks to heal. They may leave scars. I know, I'm freaking out at the moment, no joke. Oh well, I deserve it for being so clumsy all the time.

We're all growing up

Cousins stacking on top of each other.

Since it's holidays, I've had lots of spare time on my hands to think things through. I'm clueless most of the time really. I don't know many things or maybe it's because I never notice the little changes in my life.

We are all growing up/ growing older -
My little sister isn't little anymore. She's just a few centimetres short of being as tall as me. It's quite disappointing to see her grow so much while I stay the same height. It feels just like yesterday when she was still wearing hand me downs from me.

My family has been continuously feasting after New Years. We're just a hungry bunch of loud people. The consecutive feasting days gave me the opportunity to hang around my cousins. I guess since we're all growing up, we need to change to become more sensible and adult-like, but to hear the things my cousins talk about these days, I'm kind of sad that they're not the same anymore. Wasn't it just a few years ago when we would play hide and seek and scream like maniacs?

After two months of not seeing my grandfather, I met him the other day. He just got back from Perth and was very tanned. I saw that he had more white hairs and looked wearier than usual. My grandfather is getting old as I am growing up. I've come to realise that the people I love won't be around forever and there's a time when I won't have them anymore.

My cousin Cindy, has been coming over to my house nearly everyday these holidays. We went to the Aquatic Centre the other day and had a splashy, fun time together. At the Aquatic Centre all the ladies were wearing one pieces. I on the other hand, wore a rashie. I remember wearing a one piece in Year 2. Since then, I haven't even touched one. I don't like revealing skin. Since when? I don't remember.

I also realised how much I suck at staying underwater. My record that day was 6 seconds. Well I'm not a fish!

This year, I hope I will be less oblivious about the changes and people around me.

A new year brings new exciting events and challenges. Yippy Hippy Horray... (Weird but I felt like writing it) I'm so glad 2010 came quickly because I can now have a brand new year to restart the things I have not accomplished last year and redo whatever I stuffed up last year. Yeah 2009, you're last year!

This year, I must study hard and become more lively again. My cousins call me dry and Julia told that I act very mature now. Crap, I'm turning into those pessimistic, I HATE LIFE AND EVERYONE people! Must revert back to my old self. Blame it all on stupid, excessive stressing!
